As the old wives' tale has it, if your unborn baby's heart rate is
higher, above 140 beats per minute, that means you're carrying a girl. A
lower heart rate below 140 bpm means you're having a boy.

Our sweet little baby's heart beat has been anywhere from 157 to 178. At our doctors appointment yesterday it was 157, the lowest it has been so far. That still puts it in the "above 140 range" which means it would be a baby girl!!

However, studies have been done to disprove this wives tale many times... Here is one chart that shows how inaccurate it is.
