14 Weeks & Growing...

Praise the Lord - the nausea is subsiding!!!  I haven't had a headache all week either... the only negative thing that has happened is lower back pain.  I have been laying on my heating pad before I go to bed though and that seems to help!  We had a great doctors visit yesterday - short and sweet... blood pressure, weight, heart beat... checked out perfect!  HELLO 2ND TRIMESTER... I LOVE YOU!!! =)

The baby is about 3 1/2 inches - about the size of a lemon - and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

The week's major developments:  The baby can now squint, frown, pee, and suck his/her thumb!  By the end of the week the arms will have grown in proportion to the body.

I looked back at my weekly pictures with Christian and I am showing completely different this time... My baby belly was so low with him and straight out... This one is super high and all around!  Not quite as cute as last time! haha!! 

Wives Tale Wednesday!

As the old wives' tale has it, if your unborn baby's heart rate is higher, above 140 beats per minute, that means you're carrying a girl. A lower heart rate below 140 bpm means you're having a boy.

Our sweet little baby's heart beat has been anywhere from 157 to 178.  At our doctors appointment yesterday it was 157, the lowest it has been so far.  That still puts it in the "above 140 range" which means it would be a baby girl!!

However, studies have been done to disprove this wives tale many times... Here is one chart that shows how inaccurate it is.

Baby Appointment #2

We had our second doctors appointment today... I forgot how boring they are in the beginning when an ultrasound isn't involved.  Anywhoo... everything went great!  Blood pressure was 112/66, only gained 2 lbs - Bonus!!, and baby's heartbeat was 157.  Next appointment is in 4 weeks and we get to find out PINK or BLUE in just 6 weeks!!!  I can not wait!!  It seems so soon though... I feel like we just found out!  I rushed everything last time and this time I just want to take things in as they come just in case this one is the last.  =)

Kick Off to Memorial Weekend

What a great start it has been to Memorial Day weekend!!  We had planned on going to the lake on Friday to hang out with friends and then drive back late that night, BUT.... I had one of my biggest mommy moments yet and decided I was too afraid to be on the roads that late with the drunks!  I didn't want to risk getting in a wreck... It's insane how your thinking completely changes when you have kids!  Instead, we went to dinner at Pink Flamingo - LOVE their bbq.. and we went to see the Avengers, finally!!  My husband has been dying to see it and since he took me to see What to Expect When Expecting earlier in the week, I figured I owed it to him!  I ended up loving it!!!  Such a great movie!

Today, Saturday, we had a momma's day out!  My mom and I went to lunch, shopping, and to get my nails done.  It was such a great day - always is when I'm with my sweet mom!!  She had never been to Fuji so we had to go there for lunch.. she loved it, of course!  We went to Motherhood Maternity because they were having a sale and I got so many cute things!!  I ended up with a pair of shorts, capris, and 6 shirts!!!  Thanks, mom! :)  We also hit up the "Target area" - which is what I call it! ha!  We really only went to Carters and Charming Charlie.  I found the cutest pair of sandals there thanks to my mom.. She has a good eye!  I got a couple pairs of earrings because I'm always suckered into their jewelry, and Christian got tons of new clothes, like always!  Mom bought him a cute little Memorial Day outfit for church tomorrow!  When we got home Corey had the pool set up!  Whoohoo!!!  He has been dreading putting that thing up but I am so grateful!  Now we just have to fill it up tomorrow and hopefully it will be swim-ready for Memorial Day! =)  I am so happy to have it for Christian.. He is going to loooove all the water time!!  This evening Corey and I went out and finally re-did our main landscape bed.. We have been wanting to for a while and did all of the other ones first.  He finally got a bench that he had in mind for it so it was time to get it all done.  We pretty much pulled up everything besides the two trees and monkey grass to rearrange and throw some things out.  It looks beautiful and I am so stinkin thankful for such a hard working hubby!!!  He has been sealing all the windows while I finally finished my little chalkboard for my weekly photos - so I can finally take one tomorrow, a few days late but oh well!  Now it's time for a long hot bath and getting everyone's church clothes ironed for tomorrow!  Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe holiday!!!

13 Weeks & Growing...

I bet you can't guess what I'm going to say about this week in pregnancy... NAUSEA!  I'm so used to it by now that I don't know what it feels like to go a whole day without it! haha!  I have had days this past week that it's so bad, I have to lay down and not move... and then yesterday I barely had any at all.  I'm hoping now that I'm off work, I can relax a little and it will start to go away.... especially since this is the last week of my 1st trimester!!!! :)  That makes me so excited... There is something about the 2nd trimester that is so comforting!  I haven't felt any kicks yet - but I can not wait!!  The baby's heartbeat was 170 a couple of days ago and 162 last night.  It has stayed between 160-170 each time we've timed it.  It's just a little higher than Christian's was.  Our next doctor's appointment is Tuesday - 5 more days!!

The baby is about 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce (the size of a medium shrimp).

This week's major development:  Fingerprints have formed on the baby's little fingers and his/her body is finally catching up with the head.
